All these car salespeople have no problem with contacting them over email. Just look at www.craigslist.org. There are many individual salespeople advertising cars there.
I find that it is most effective if you go straight in with some kind of negotiating price strategy. Know what the most you'll pay and know when to fold and leave.

As others have mentioned, the dealer charges a $500 (499 actually) dealer documentation fee. Otherwise, a fantastic price. I negotiated everything online and went in and did the deal.
